Rosa

Giovanni, N. (2005) Rosa. New York, NY: Holt
This is the story of Rosa Parks’ fateful day riding on the bus.  It starts with her normal day smoothly working into the decision she had to make on her ride home.  It then goes on to tell about the changes that her action spurred into being.
This book does well in telling the story in a meaningful way that a child could understand.  It focuses on Parks’ story, but describes the implications it had for everyone.  It is a good book for introducing the topic to young readers.
