She Kicks Butts and Eats Nuts!
The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl Beats Up the Marvel Universe
by Ryan North and Jessica Henderson
Squirrel Girl is back in her very own stand-alone graphic novel! Doreen Green isn't just your average college computer science student, she's also a super hero! With the proportional strength and agility of a squirrel, the ability to speak to squirrels, and her upbeat positive attitude she is a force to be reckoned with!
When her pal Tony Stark calls her asking for help, she gathers her team and they run off to Stark tower immediately! When they reach Tony however, they find out he just wants to use her squirrel talking ability to gather test subjects for some tech he nabbed from the high evolutionary! Squirrel Girl of course declines, but at that moment the high evolutionary's goons attack! in the fray Squirrel Girl is knocked into the mysterious chamber! Strangely enough, two Squirrel Girls jump out! Doreen and her clone are fast friends and kick butt together. Unfortunetly, though everything seems like its going to be amazing forever, her clone starts to go a bit rogue. Squirrel Clone is now determined to put squirrels on top of the societal pyramid and humans subserviant on the bottom. How will Doreen save the world from her other self?
I loved this book, and the Unbeatable Squirrel Girl comics in general. I recently discovered this comic by Ryan North and have found my new favorite Marvel hero. Squirrel Girl is a different kind of hero than many others in comics. She makes great puns, she's super positive, she isn't sexy, and she actually tries to solve problems without violence. Half of the villains she's faced she actually helps reform! This is a comic for anyone of any age who likes humor, super heroes, and can-do attitudes. I also recommend reading the comic series, which is available in book collections.
