Struck with wonder

Selznick, B. (2011) Wonder Struck. New York, NY: Scholastic Press
Ben lives with his Aunt’s family because he recently lost his mother.  One night he makes a wish on a he sneaks out and runs over to his old house.  That’s when he finds an old book, with a note that could be from his father.  When he picks up the phone to call, lightning hits, and he struck deaf.  Not about to let that stop him, he travels to New York to try and find the man who might be his father.
The way this story is told is really quite inventive.  Other than the story above, there is another story being told concurrently through pictures.  While Ben’s story is being told through words, there are illustrations spread throughout telling another story.  Eventually the two stories meet and like the title you will be wonderstruck.
