Please don't forget chicka chicka boom boom

Dahl, M.
(2012) Penguin Says Please. North Mankato, MN: Picture Window Books
A penguin child
wakes up and is immediately demanding of his mother. If he wants to get anything though, he must
first learn to say please.
This book is
full of color and attractive pictures.
The text is easy to say, remember, and repetitive. I almost know it by heart being that my
daughters have both made me read it so many times.
Martin Jr, B & Archambault, J. (1989) Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. New
York, NY: Aladdin Paperbacks
Word starts to
spread amongst the letters that the top of the coconut tree is the place to
be. As they all begin climbing the tree
bends more and more. That is until, they
all fall down. Then they have to
untangle themselves from each other to go on their way.
This is a very
fun read. Not only is it told in a
creative rhyme, the periodic repetition of chicka chicka boom boom makes it
entertaining for both reader and listener.
Mayer, M. (1988) I
Just Forgot. New York, NY: Western Publishing Company
We join Little Critter in one of
his many adventures. This time it’s all
about his day to day forgetfulness, and the consequences of his
irresponsibility. From forgetting his
lunch at school to leaving his muddy boots on in the house, it’s never a dull
day at his house.
I’ve always loved Little Critter
and my children share that love as well.
My copy of this book is well loved.
This is a great story showing all those little things that you “just
forget” as a child, and that drive you crazy as a parent.
