Where the Wild Things Are
1. Today's blog is all about a book most adults have I'm sure.
Like many kids his age, Max can be
a bit of a handful. His abundant energy
and great imagination land him in hot water.
Using that imagination though, he tries to make the best of it,
transporting himself to a land of wild beasts.
Among those beasts he learns a lesson.
Maurice Sendak tells a story I
think many kids can relate to (including myself, a grown up kid) about getting
in trouble, feeling wronged, but later realizing where the love is. What really helps to tell the story though
are the pictures. As a picture book,
that’s pretty important. Many kids who
are just learning to read, or struggling with it, will still get the full story
from the detailed and imaginative art work.
Some pages don’t even have words, and they don’t need them.
